I had "An Ancient Hymn Sung by the Water" from the Crisis Core OST on loop for DAYS and thought about this on the way to work one day.
I keep imagining that the moment Cloud lets go of Aerith during her water burial, she 'falls' into the lifestream and falls into Zack's arms... who I feel has been waiting for her for like, forever. <-- Zack/Aerith fan here ;3; The scene at the end of Advent Children where you see the both of them together really warmed my heart! Playing Crisis Core (WHICH I HAVE YET TO FINISH) doesn't help either.
